Georgia – Martinez-Evans Little League fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 4-0 loss to North Carolina – Walkertown Little League on Sunday. North Carolina – Walkertown Little League scored on a fielder’s choice by Danny Staley in the first inning.

Georgia – Martinez-Evans Little League lost despite out-hitting North Carolina – Walkertown Little League four to three.

North Carolina – Walkertown Little League got on the board in the first inning when Joshua Melton induced Staley to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

A single by Melton in the first inning was a positive for Georgia – Martinez-Evans Little League.

Staley was credited with the victory for North Carolina – Walkertown Little League. He lasted five and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits and zero runs while striking out seven. Gabe Wagoner threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen. Wagoner recorded the last four outs to earn the save for North Carolina – Walkertown Little League.

Melton took the loss for Georgia – Martinez-Evans Little League. He allowed three hits and two runs over six and a third innings, striking out three and walking one.

Melton went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Georgia – Martinez-Evans Little League in hits.
