ReportTennessee – Smith County Little League Stays Scrappy In Loss To South Carolina – Irmo Little League

Tennessee – Smith County Little League‘s effort to come back from down six runs in the fourth inning came up just short, as they fell 7-5 to South Carolina – Irmo Little League on Saturday. Tennessee – Smith County Little League scored five runs in the failed comeback. Jake Taylor, Micheal McKinnley, and Taylor picked up RBIs to lead the rally.

Tennessee – Smith County Little League couldn’t keep up with South Carolina – Irmo Little League early in the game. South Carolina – Irmo Little League scored on a single by Julian Scott in the first inning and a groundout by Andrew French in the second inning.

South Carolina – Irmo Little League opened up scoring in the first inning. Scott drove in one when he singled.

Tennessee – Smith County Little League scored four runs in the sixth inning. McKinnley and Taylor all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

South Carolina – Irmo Little League scored three runs in the fourth inning. South Carolina – Irmo Little League big bats were led by Scott and Luke Spirek, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Matthew Becker got the win for South Carolina – Irmo Little League. He surrendered zero runs on zero hits over three innings, striking out seven. Lawson Davis, Petey Von Ahn, and Wyatt Butcher all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory. Davis recorded the last four outs to earn the save for South Carolina – Irmo Little League.

Landon Baker took the loss for Tennessee – Smith County Little League. He surrendered one run on one hit over three innings, striking out three and walking one.

Robert Preston started the game for Tennessee – Smith County Little League. He went two and a third innings, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out one

Taylor, Brant Turner, McKinnley, Cole Huddleston, Baker, Dennis West, and Tanner Coleman each collected one hit to lead Tennessee – Smith County Little League.

South Carolina – Irmo Little League collected six hits. Scott and Becker all managed multiple hits for South Carolina – Irmo Little League.
